Concurrent Computer Corp’s new 8000 systems will eventually run its experimental Alpha real-time operating system with distributed computing and expert system elements (CI No 1,311): in the meantime the company is getting tired of waiting for DEC to commit to implementing the system for its VAX minicomputer architecture, and is now thinking about carrying out the task itself.
