Concept Communications Inc has won a patent on its Image 30 codec coder-decoder, which plugs into a Personal and transforms it into a full-motion, full-colour teleconferencing workstation, reports Newsbytes: Image 30 uses a combination of Boolean and statistical techniques to compress video signals, and sells for $12,000; with a video camera and a high-resolution monitor, Image 30 enables a Personal to send and receive full-motion, full-colour video over telephone lines or satellite networks, and it is claimed to be compatible with both US and European standards.
