Woking, Surey-based ComWare International Ltd has announced the addition of a new portable modem with facsimile capabilities to its range of modems from Microcom Inc, Sunnyvale, California. Called the MicroPorte 4232bis With Fax, the product supports the MNP10 dial-up modem capability, and is claimed to give effective data throughput rates of up to 57Kbps over land lines using V.42bis data compression. It is also claimed to give Class 1 9,600bps facsimile send and receive capability when it is used with Delrina Technology Inc’s WinFax Lite and DosFax Lite software. The list price is UKP700, but ComWare is currently offering a 25% discount across its range of Microcom modems for users or buyers of its personal computer to mainframe communications software package, Relay Gold.
