Comstar, the joint venture between GEC Plessey Telecommunications Ltd and the Moscow Telecommunications Network, is to introduce a new Digital Overlay Network for the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in Russia, to go live early this year: a System X digital public telephone exchange will be used for the new network, the first one in Russia to provide time-on-demand international, trunk and local calls over the same network.
