The Russian government has approved agreements between the Russian-British joint venture Comstar and British banks for a UKP50m credit package to the Moscow Local Telephone Network, known as MGTS: the money will be spent on digital switching and transmission equipment supplied by GEC Plessey Telecommunications Ltd; under the plan, MGTS will install about 175,000 new digital lines in the capital.
