Sales of computers accounted for just 19% of the turnover at the computer section of the Moscow Computer Exchange during its first month’s trading: head of the computer section Demitri Mendeluk attributed the disappointing figures to high prices caused by rouble inflation, the fall in the value of the rouble against the dollar and a fall in imports; 58 deals worth 62m roubles were concluded and several of the larger distribution companies took part – including Steepler, Baltic Amadeus, ComputerLand, and the JV Dialogue joint venture; typical price for an IBMcompatible AT-alike was from 120,000 to 140,000 roubles. – Robert Farish, Editor, Moscow Computer News
