ComputerLand Corp, which has traditionally preferred to go through franchises than via company-owned stores in the US, is to increase the number of the latter by agreeing in principle to pay $4.875m cash for Phoenix, Arizona-based Dataphaz Inc, which operates a ComputerLand stores Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and Denver and despite retrenching, claimed to be ComputerLand’s biggest franchisee.
