With the $20m acquisition of Netherlands-based Rendeck International NV, Computer Task Group Inc has, in one fell swoop, gained the significant European presence that it considers necessary in the march up to 1992. Rendeck, which turns over $24m a year from its consultancy, training and system software activities, will operate as the European division of the $240m Computer Task Group under the stewardship of founding partner of Rendeck, Barry Mence – currently head of the UK division. Mence affirmed it will be business as usual at Rendeck and that the deal will have no repercussions for any of Rendeck’s existing customers, who will continue to be supported as before – albeit by a company called CTG Europe. Apart from its main offices in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, Rendeck has a distribution arm in Denmark, serving Scandinavia. Computer Task Group chairman David Campbell stated that all Rendeck principals on the Continent will be kept on in their present positions and that none of the 350 jobs at Rendeck will be lost. Computer Task Group is 15.3% owned by IBM Corp, with which it does joint systems integration.
