Brighton, Sussex-based data security specialist Computer Security International Ltd is moving into the US marketplace via acquisition of a controlling interest in its US supplier, Profile Analysis Corp. Computer Security is paying UKP150,000 cash for a 75% stake in the Ridgefield, Connecticut company which has two main products: an MS-DOS software package for risk assessment and an integrated planning system that also runs on a micro. Managing director William Seabrook sees the move as a further step in building a broadly based international business in information security. Formed three years ago with veture capital from Advent, Computer Security concentrates on data security and secure electronic systems, and claims to be the UK’s leading supplier of data security systems to banks. Turnover has doubled since the company was formed back in 1985 and there is a sister company in France, with one due in Germany next year. It also has distributors in Scandinavia and Holland but says the UK accounted for 75% of last year’s UKP5m sales.
