Computer Sciences Corp, which had said it intended to hang on to 30% of its Infonet world-wide data network indefinitely, has now changed its mind, and sold a 25% stake to MCI Communications Corp for about $27.5m, so that MCI becomes the largest shareholder in the new Infonet Services Corp. The remaining 5% is being split between nine of the 10 foreign telephone operators that are already are shareholders of Infonet. Infonet is available from 100 countries, with local support provided in 34 countries. Computer Sciences says it sold because the price was so good.Infonet owners that increased their holdings through the pro-rata purchase of 5% of CSC’s shares are Belgiums RTT, France Telecom, the Dutch, Swiss and Swedish PTTs, Telefonica de Espana SA, the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, Telecom Australia, and the Singapore PTT. Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co’s stake remains at 5%.
