Coventry-based value-added reseller Computer Profiles Ltd called in receivers from Ernst & Young, on February 1: for the moment, the business will continue to operate under its existing management – the aim is either to try and sell it as a going concern or to investigate the possibility of ‘reconstruction’; Computer Profiles was born out of the personal computer and Unix division of Computer Factors, a Unix and Pick Systems Inc company, founded by UCL former managing director, Chris Creighton Thomas; UCL bought the firm in October 1987, and then sold it to its management in August 1989 (CI No 1,239); Computer Profiles’ main product was the Diamond business management and accounting software; as recently as January this year, the company was recruited by Data General Corp to resell CLARiiON Select disk arrays (CI No 2,093).
