Computer Lab International (CLI), a provider of thin client customisation, and Ericom Software have introduced Ericom Blaze to the CLI product portfolio. The company claims that Ericom Blaze is a software that delivers 10 – 25 times faster presentation protocol performance than standard Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

CLI will be supporting Ericom Blaze on Windows XP embedded, Windows Embedded Standard, and Linux operating systems. According to the companies, when combined with CLI desktop appliances, Ericom Blaze offers flexibility and performance to virtual desktop implementations for remote users across the WAN.

When CLI clients are loaded with Ericom Blaze, RDP becomes faster, consumes less bandwidth and overcomes the limitations of latency, optimising RDP network traffic across the WAN/LAN, claimed the companies.

The companies said that their combined offering will be capable of reducing the number of user complaints to IT, related to slow network performance or poor user experience. Graphics rich content, flash animations and media rich applications such as browsers are expected to benefit from this acceleration technology.

Ilan Paretsky, vice president of marketing at Ericom Software, said: We are delighted to provide the market with a solution that truly combines thin client computing from CLI, remote access and a fast, software-based RDP acceleration. With Ericom Blaze, we use innovative methods to compress and accelerate RDP including packet-shaping and intelligent protocol introspection.

“The result is a much faster, responsive and efficient remote display protocol that delivers a local PC-like experience from any desktop or thin client across the WAN/LAN. For SMBs and larger organisations, Ericom Blaze enables a scalable and productive deployment of Terminal Services, desktop virtualisation (VDI), and thin computing to remote and mobile users, branch offices and clouds – quickly and cost-effectively.
