Allen Krowe, formerly IBM Corp’s chief financial officer – and subject of the celebrated Krowe was shot incident when he was removed to another post after poor figures – is now safely out of the computer firing line and is now a senior vice-president of Texaco Inc, and he doesn’t seem to have too many regrets about leaving the crazy world of computers behind: The industry has more PhDs per square foot than any other, he observed to Fortune magazine, Yet its pricing calls to mind soybeans and sowbellies, – now what was that that John Akers said IBM would do if the personal computer industry became a commodity business?…
