It was a bit of a surprise when we saw that the name of the new 50-50 joint venture company between Intel Corp and Siemens AG was to be called BiiN, apparently pronounced buy-in, but we began to wonder whether we’d got the date wrong and it was April 1 when we read The name of the company, BiiN, doesn’t have any precise meaning and the initials do not correspond to any words; the name was chosen by computer – sounds like a very good reason for not asking a computer to dream up company names for you.
