Computer Associates International Inc yesterday teamed with Netscape Communications Corp to unveil CA-Unicenter/ICE, or Internet Commerce-Enabled, saying that the product is designed to be used to secure and manage electronic commerce on the Internet. It is available as a stand-alone product or integrated with Netscape’s Web server software. Computer Associates asserts that the Internet will only realise its full commercial potential when it becomes as manageable and secure as corporate computing environments, and the alliance with Netscape extends beyond CA-Unicenter to cover integration of CA-Unicenter/ICE with Netscape’s core server products. It will be combined with Netscape Commerce Server for conducting secure transactions, with Communications Server for publishing hypermedia documents on the World Wide Web, wity Netscape News Server for creating secure public and private discussion groups, and with Proxy Server for establishing proxy server capabilities to isolate the company’s Intranet from the Internet at large to improve performance. Computer Associates plans to market the four products worldwide via its direct sales force and its resellers.
