Although its $9.8bn cash bid for Computer Sciences fell apart in March, Computer Associates is still looking to make multiple purchases in the IT services arena of up to $0.75bn during the next nine months, reports Computer Business Review. Aside from its usual reliance on banks for the money, the company is lining up an alternative source of new cash. Charles Wang, chief executive officer, says the company is planning to take some of its smaller divisions and list them on Wall Street. Accpac, the PC accounting unit, is already being readied for an initial public offering, and other candidates include manufacturing businesses MK Group and Acacia, and finance and HR package unit Prestige Software. Alternatively, some of these units might make good targets for the leading cash rich Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) companies. á
