COMPUTER ASSOCIATES TO APPEAL $12M ROYALTY

By CBR Staff Writer

Computer Associates International Inc said it would appeal a New York state judge’s order for it to pay $12m in a royalty dispute case tied to its $100m acquisition of privately-held Online Software International Inc of Fort Lee, New Jersey in 1991. The plaintiffs were the software developers, who said a New York state arbitration panel found Computer Associates had fraudulently hidden some transactions to avoid paying royalties to the developers, violating the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
