COMPUTER ASSOCIATES CUTS 500 ADR STAFFERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Computer Associates International Inc was expected to make substantial job cuts in the wake of its acquisition of Applied Data Research Inc, and they haven’t been long in coming. The Garden City, New York company is laying off 500 employees worldwide on the Applied Data side of the company, saying defensively that the cuts were in the plan al ready put in place by ADR’s previous owner, Ameritech Inc, and that no further cuts are planned. A new software products and services division is formed at ADR’s Princeton, New Jersey base to combine the products and staff of Applied Data apart from performance management systems – to go into System Products, with the mainframe programmer productivity and graphics products of Computer Associates to form the new Information Products Division.
