Computer Associates International Inc, Islandia, New York, plans to integrate OpenIngres, CA-Unicenter and ManMan/X manufacturing software for Unix into a network management suite, according to David Cahn, director of product strategy. It is code named-Rainbow, and Cahn said the company will finish integrating the three by the end of the year. A configurable graphical interface, presently undergoing in-house development with the code name Real World, will be added, he said. Computer Associates will then embed workflow technology to model business processes and applications, and produce a version of the resulting system for most versions of Unix, and Windows NT. By mid-1996, the company plans to release the suite to business developers, he said. It will include Legent Corp’s Paradigm help desk, which is being integrated into Unicenter, as well as an Internet-like browser. Applications will include software distribution, job scheduling and financial management. Computer Associates is presently courting workflow vendors, but Cahn declined to name names or speculate on the likely cost of the system.
