German PC retailer Computer 2000 AG enjoyed its best year ever in the 12 months ended September 12, 1998, with a 22% increase in revenues to $6.05bn. The Munich-based company, which was acquired by US computer retailing giant Tech Data Corp in April this year (CI No 3,389), singled out France and Norway as the only European markets it had problems in during the period. Meanwhile Argentina, Chile and Peru were the disappointments in Latin America, which spent most of the year reeling from the ripple effect of the Asian crisis.
