COMPUTER 2000 GERMAN SUBSIDIARY SALES UP 24% IN 1996

Major German computer distributor Computer 2000 AG, Munich says its German subsidiary saw sales rose 24% to the equivalent of $1.2bn in 1996. Profit at Computer 2000 Deutschland GmbH also showed a clear increase last year, it said, but did not give figures. The company, 75% owned by Viag AG, says German sales should shoot through the $1.35bn mark in the 1996-97 fiscal year to September 30. The parent company reported 1995-96 pre-tax profit of $6.7m but a net loss of $10.4m after a $35m loss at its Ameriquest Technologies Inc affiiate in the US. Group sales last year grew 34% to $4.425bn.
