Compuserve has called upon Washington and the European Community to to fight pornography and extremism in Cyberspace and install joint legislation on the issue. CompuServe is now pushing the Platform for Internet Content Selection, a consortium of industry representatives, to agree a code for rating pages on world-wide computer networks by this summer. The code, much like those classification systems used for films and television, would become a part of all Web pages and newsgroups, and would reflect the potentially explicit nature of the content inside.
