H&R Block Inc, Kansas City says that third quarter pre-tax profits at its CompuServe Inc subsidiary increased 53.5% to $29.3m on turnover that jumped 40% to $113.7m; it claims CompuServe now has 1.7m subscribers worldwide, including 100,000 in Europe, and is adding subscribers at 60,000 each month.
