Computer retailer CompUSA Inc has announced sales for the second quarter ended December 27 that rose 22% to $1.46bn. Comparable store sales were up 8.8% in the quarter for the 122 stores open one year or more. For the six month period, net sales were up 21% to $2.65bn, with comparable store sales were up 7.6%. The results bring sales for calendar 1997 to more than $5bn. On the back of the news, CompUSA shares were up $2.0625, or nearly 7%, at $31.6875 in midday trading last Wednesday.
