COMPULINK TO ASSEMBLE MICROS IN THE US

By CBR Staff Writer

CompuLink, Acer Inc’s largest Russian distributor, has announced plans to assemble a new line of its own personal computers in the US. The line will be branded CLR and will be priced at just below the cheapest brand name boxes currently on sale in Russia. To maintain effective liaison with its suppliers and build a parallel market for its products outside of Russia, the company will invest $3m in assembly facilities in Miami, Florida. This decision comes with the arrival at CompuLink of George Kakavos, formerly director of Acer Central Europe.
