COMPRESSION LABS PREPARES MULTI-POINT VIDEO CONFERENCE SYSTEM

By CBR Staff Writer

Point-to-point videoconferences are all very well, but if you want to bring the whole family together for a sing-song, or get all the regional sales offices to a meeting without their having to stir, something a bit better is needed. San Jose, California based Compression Labs Inc has the answer with its multipoint video system that accommodates conferees in up to eight sites simultaneously. The new Rembrandt Multipoint Unit, works with Compression’s Rembrandt and Rembrandt-56 video systems, and is able to control two separate videoconferences simultaneously; two Multipoint Units can be coupled to permit four separate conferences among 14 sites. It arrives in May, and prices will go from $75,000 to $100,000, depending on user configuration.
