COMPETITORS GET TOGETHER TO ‘APPRAISE’ OR BURY MICROSOFT

By CBR Staff Writer

Consumer rights campaigner Ralph Nader will get together with Sun Microsystems Inc chief Scott McNealy, Netscape Communications Corp attorney Gary Reback and Netchannel Inc chief Philip Monego in Washington DC next week in what sounds like a somewhat one-sided discussion called ‘Appraising Microsoft.’ In the interest of balance, Nader also invited Bill Gates, but the signs are that he’d be wiser to make himself scarce. This conference really appears to be nothing more than a gathering of all of Microsoft’s competitors and long-term critics all in one room, Microsoft told The Guardian. It does not appear to be an effort to take a sincere look at consumer issues in the software industry.
