Compaq Computer Corp is not after any old modem maker in its quest for a suitable communications acquisition, (CI No 2,837). It is specifically after a broadband cable television modem maker, and intends to take major ownership in one such company, vice-president of technical corporate development and marketing Robert Stearns told PC Week.
