COMPAQ TO ADD QUANTUM TAPE DRIVES TO ENTERPRISE SERVERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Compaq Computer Corp, which is getting serious about its storage business, is to offer Quantum Corp’s DLT 7000 tape drive as an option for backup systems with its enterprise servers and systems storage products. The SCSI-2 drives, which hold 70Gb of compressed data, are out in tabletop, rack-mounted and storage array versions. Compaq now claims to be number three in the storage market, behind only IBM Corp and EMC Corp.
