Compaq Computer Corp may be about to give the new liberalised and competitive India is latest coup: the company is considering India as a possible site for a new manufacturing plant, the Economic Times reported. Compaq began selling personal computers in India 18 months ago, but at the time ruled out manufacturing the machines in India, opting instead for China, but the paper says it is reconsidering its stance on India, quoting an unidentified Compaq official saying Today we are looking at the possibility of manufacturing in some form or the other and at some level.
