Compaq Computer Corp has taken a minority equity stake in Inex Corp, a developer of internet commerce applications. Compaq is said to have taken less than 20% of the Canadian company, based in Toronto. Compaq recently signed an agreement to distribute the Inex Web store publishing products, which it plans to bundle in with its small business desktop systems. The product enables customers to put up an initial electronic storefornt on the web in under a day, the company claims. Inex says the investment will help it roll-out its planned set of turnkey internet commerce applications more quickly.
