COMPAQ STILL LOOKS TO DOUBLE SALES BY YEAR 2000

By CBR Staff Writer

Compaq Computer Corp is still targeting a doubling of sales to some $40bn by the year 2000, Eckhard Pfeiffer, chief executive said in Munich. This would represent annual revenue growth of 25% and would secure a position for Compaq among the top three computer groups in the world, he said – controversially, since Fujitsu Ltd and Hewlett- Packard Co should be a lot bigger than $40bn by then, and IBM Corp is unlikely to shrink below them.
