Compaq Computer Corp shares put on $3.00 to $34.00 after the company said that worldwide orders for its portable 486c personal computer exceeded company expectations and Salomon Brothers Inc and Alex Brown & Sons analysts raised their fourth quarter earnings estimates, Salomon’s Luciane Painter raising her estimate to 65 cents per share from 50 cents on higher turnover, and Mark Stahlman of Alex Brown upgrading his rating to neutral from unattractive and increasing his fourth quarter earnings estimates to 60 cents from 46 cents a share.
