Compaq Computer Corp has immediately replaced Michael Lambert, the VP of Enterprise marketing it lost to Dell Computer yesterday (CI No 3,017). The new man is Robert Fernander, previously VP of worldwide channel sales at DEC. Before that he spent ten years at Sun Microsystems, spearheading its push into commercial markets. Compaq says it’s now shipped over one million servers. Rather ingenuously, Compaq claimed Lambert had left the company to pursue other interests – well, actually the same interests, but (presumably) for more money and for a rival company.
