COMPAQ RELEASE DESKPRO XL SERIES

Compaq Computer Corp is replacing the Deskpro/M machines with its Deskpro XL Series, including Peripheral Component Interconnect and Pentium capability at from $2,600: the machine features a new PCnet-SCSI chip from Advanced Micro Devices Inc that features built-in SCSI and Ethernet connections with PCI; it also unveiled the Deskpro XE 4100 100MHz DX4 machine, and the Prolinea with Plug and Play, energy saver features and faster graphics; Compaq also introduced two new energy efficient monitors, the 20 Compaq QVision 200 with power conservation features and the new Compaq QVision 172 with 1,280 by 1,024 resolution; and the Compaq SpeedPaq 144 Internal Fax Modem, which combines a 14,400 bps modem and 9,600bps facsimile modem in an AT board for desktop computers.
