Compaq Computer Corp yesterday duly launched its Presario line of home computers, which are designed to boot as soon as they are plugged in and switched on; one features a 14 screen that looks more like a television set; they also have built-in telephone answering machine, fax modem and simplified personal finance programs, games, word processor and communications software. The first two machines are the Presario 425 all-in-one 80486SX machine at $1,400 with monitor and software, and the 33MHz 80486SX Presario 633, which looks like a conventional desktop. Both machines come with 4Mb of memory, 200Mb hard disk and a floppy drive.
