Compaq Computer Corp’s new Bryan Compaq Development Center at Bryan, Texas, 10 minutes from Texas A&M University in College Station, so that it can draw on the skills of the universities’ undergraduates. Initially, the Bryan Compaq Development Center will conduct operating system certification testing for Compaq servers and workstations, but it will move on to do more work that’s currently done in-house at Compaq, such as software development and other assignments requiring research skills. It will be staffed by more than 30 part-time workers, primarily engineering students from Texas A&M University.
