Compaq Computer Corp’s Ross Cooley, is leaving a position where he was in charge of Compaq’s $7bn North American computer business for a job at a four-month old company called pcOrder.com Inc where he will fill the as-yet unfilled positions of chairman and chief executive. The move give instant credibility to the new company, which provides a marketplace on the Internet for buying and selling personal computers and related equipment. It is still private, but is contemplating a public share offering eventually.
