COMPAQ LAUNCHES FINGERPRINT SECURITY SYSTEM IN JAPAN

Compaq Computer Corp has launched a fingerprint identification system in Japan, aimed at corporate users. The system, which enables a fingerprint to be used for PC access rather than a password, includes the fingerprint reader and application software, and will cost the equivalent of $135. The English language version will ship late next month, and a Japanese version in November, Compaq Computer KK told Reuters.
