Compaq Computer Corp plunges into the mass market today with 27 rock-bottom-priced personal computers that undercut even the tentative IBM Corp Ambra machines – and go out under the Compaq name. There are four lines: Prolinea comprises four desktops including the 3/25ZS at 15% under ICPI’s Ambra. The Conturas are notebooks that are similarly keenly priced, and the Deskpro/imachines are more powerful desktops with Qvision graphics board and sound on the motherboard, again at rock-bottom prices.The Lite however is a fully-priced colour active matrix notebook with 80386SL CPU.
