Fresh from the announcement it is to buy Digital Equipment Corp for $9,6bn (CI No 3,334) Compaq Computer Corp has announced that it expects its Asian business to keep on growing, despite the affect that the Asian financial crisis has had on so many companies. The company expects to see this area of its business grow at least twice as fast as the market. Last year Compaq unit shipments grew 18% in Asia.
