The Shannon Knows Compaq newsletter believes that Compaq Computer Corp has sold its OEM group to component manufacturer Modular Technologies Inc, Fremont, California, for as much as $750m and that the deal will be announced in the next few weeks; not bad for an operation thought to be doing around $300m a year. SKC first heard Compaq was seeking to divest the group late last year. Modular Technologies could not be reached by press time.
