COMPAQ HAS BIG AMBITIONS IN JAPAN

Compaq Computer Corp wants to increase its market share in Japan, and will increase its workforce there by 40% this year, the company told Reuters. Compaq currently has an 11% PC market share worldwide, but only a 3% share in Japan, where it is ranked seventh, way behind leaders NEC Corp and Fujitsu Ltd.
