Compaq Computer Corp is continuing its quest to become a significant player in the networking market, via a new partnership with Cabletron Systems Inc. Under the terms of the deal, the latter’s Spectrum Enterprise Manager will be integrated with Compaq’s Insight Manager, enabling Compaq kit to be managed using Spectrum. Integration will be via Compaq’s Insight Manager – designed to provide enhanced management of fault, performance and configuration data. Cabletron claims that the integration will provide full support for all of Compaq’s Management Information Bases, including the proprietary ones. There is no word yet from the firm on when the integration will be completed.
