In an exemplary piece of meretricious flackery, Compaq Computer Corp says its business in Eastern Europe grew by 166% in revenue, and shipments were up 251% for the first half of 1992 compared to the same period in the previous year, and that despite political troubles in neighboring republics, computing requirements remain strong in Slovenia, where Compaq business grew by over 250% in units in the first half of this year – and then fails to put any absolute numbers on anything, in the absence of which one has to assume that the 251% rise in shipments was achieved by selling 351 machines during the period this year, against 100 last time, and that it sold 36 machines in Slovenia this time against 10 last time.
