Compaq Computer Corp says that unit shipments of personal computers in Europe rose 100% in the second quarter – but that compares with a rate of 150% worldwide in the same period; still analysts are forecasting an overall 15% to 16% growth in personal computer shipments in Europe in the second quarter, So our performance is six to seven times better than that, the firm said, declining to forecast Compaq’s European shipments for the third quarter, although analysts expect a further slowing of growth overall in the region to an 8% or 9% rate, 13% to 15% for the year.
