COMPAQ DENIES APPLE LICENSING PLANS

Compaq Computer Corp has decided that it is better to say something than to decline comment if an erroneous impression is being given, and the company has now denied that it has any plans to license Apple Computer Inc’s Mac OS, or to develop or license PowerPC-based computers (CI No 2,878). The rumours of Compaq developing PowerPC-based desktops and servers are not true, it told PC Week – No such plans exist or are contemplated.
