Compaq Computer Corp cut prices on some models of its ProLiant 1500 and Compaq ProSignia 500 server families by up to 10%, and is also offering a promotion on its mid-range ProLiant 4500 servers, including an additional processor board, worth about $5,000 at no extra cost with all 100MHz and 133MHz Pentium models bought in the US between March 1 and June 30; the ProLiant 1500 5/166 is cut 4% to $7,250; the 1500 5/133 is down 8% at $6,230; and the ProSignia 500 5/150 is reduced by 10% and now costs $4,000. Ths company also cut prices up to 28% on its flagship family of notebook personal computers and up to 34% on some of its laptop modems, effective immediately: it said prices now start at $3,000 for its LTE 5000 laptop family, a reduction of $1,000; at the top of the line, the LTE 5200 Model 1350 120MHz Pentium, 10.4 active matrix color display and a 1.35Gb hard drive, was cut 23%, or $1,500, to $5,000.
