Screwing down even tighter on IBM Corp’s margins, Compaq Computer Corp yesterday cut prices on its line of Contura personal computers by 12% to 16% so that a colour notebook now costs just over $2,000, while the entry-level 80386SL-based notebook model is available for around $1,250; add-ons such as internal modems and memory boards, fell by 14% to 43%.
