Compaq Computer Corp has introduced a new 32-bit dual-speed Token Ring controller that it claims to be the most powerful server-based network interface available for Token Ring networks: the controller, when used with a Compaq Systempro or Deskpro 486/25, takes advantage of the increased performance of EISA, allowing communications data to be transferred up to 32% faster than the IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4 Adapter/A; it features optimised drivers to co-ordinate with a range of network operating systems, including Novell NetWare 386, Novell NetWare 2.1X and LAN Manager and supports direct connections to shielded and unshielded twisted-pair cabling at both 16M- and 4M-bits a second media transfer rates.
